Combine several documents into one PDF

Updated 10/31/2026

Immigration forms often ask for “proof of funds” or “your last six statements” in a single upload field. You have six separate files, or ten photos taken one at a time. Here is how to turn them into one clean document.

Merge the files

  1. Open “Merge PDF” and add all your files at once.
  2. Drag the thumbnails into chronological order: that is the order the officer reads.
  3. Download the single document.

If your documents are photos rather than PDFs, run them through “Scan to PDF” first, which straightens and cleans the images.

Do the arithmetic before uploading

This is the step everyone forgets. Six statements of 1.5 MB make a 9 MB document, while the IRCC limit is 4 or 5 MB depending on the portal.

Merge first, compress second. The other way round you compress six times and get a worse result.

For the exact limit by service, see the PDF size limits table: every row links to the official page.

Tidy it up before sending

  • “Organize PDF” to reorder pages or rotate scans that came out sideways.
  • “Delete pages” to remove the blank pages scanners add.
  • “Add page numbers” if the document is long: an officer who can cite a page processes the file faster.

Give the file an explicit name before sending, such as bank-statements-january-june-2026.pdf. A document called scan001.pdf helps nobody.

Frequently asked questions

Should I put everything in one file?

Only if the form leaves one field. Where several uploads are allowed, one file per document type stays more readable for the officer.

Are my files sent anywhere during the merge?

No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. No upload, so no copy anywhere else.

Does the merged document lose quality?

No, merging does not re-encode anything. Only a deliberate compression changes quality, and you stay in control of that.
