Convert PDF to Excel online for free

Pull the tables out of your PDFs into Excel spreadsheets (XLSX).

Get the tables from an invoice, statement or report in PDF into an Excel spreadsheet. Columns are detected automatically and numbers become real numbers, ready for your formulas.

How it works

  1. Select the PDF containing your tables.
  2. Choose one sheet per page or a single sheet.
  3. Click “Convert to Excel” and download the .xlsx file.

Frequently asked questions

Can the numbers be used in formulas?

Yes: “1 250,00”, “3,50 €” or “12 %” are converted into numbers you can add up.

What if the columns are misaligned?

Columns are detected from how the text is aligned. For complex tables, check the result and adjust if needed.

Can I put all the pages in a single sheet?

Yes, choose “Everything in one sheet”. The pages are placed one after another in the same tab, separated by a blank row.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Excel?

Not directly, since a scan only contains images. Run it through the “OCR PDF” tool first to recognize the text, then convert the result to Excel.

Does the file work with Google Sheets?

Yes. Upload the .xlsx file to Google Drive, then open it with Google Sheets. It also opens in LibreOffice Calc and Numbers.

My PDF is password-protected. What can I do?

First remove the protection with the “Unlock PDF” tool if you know the password, then start the conversion.

Does my bank statement stay private?

Yes, conversion happens in your browser: no file is uploaded. The tool is free, with no sign-up.

How the tables are rebuilt

A PDF doesn’t contain real tables, only text placed at precise positions. PDFRoll groups words that sit at the same height to form rows, then detects columns from how the text is aligned. Headings and standalone paragraphs are placed in column A.

Amounts and percentages are converted into numbers you can use in formulas: “1 250,00” becomes 1250, “3,50 €” becomes 3.5 and “12 %” becomes 0.12. Column widths are adjusted to fit their content.

One sheet per page or a single sheet

  • “One sheet per page”: each page of the PDF gets its own tab, named “Page 1”, “Page 2”, and so on. Handy for tracing where each piece of data came from.
  • “Everything in one sheet”: all the pages are placed one after another in a “Data” tab, separated by a blank row. Ideal for a statement or list that runs over several pages.

The .xlsx file opens in Microsoft Excel, LibreOffice Calc, Numbers on Mac, or Google Sheets after you upload it to Google Drive.

Examples of use

  • Analyze a bank or credit card statement to build your budget.
  • Copy the lines of an invoice or purchase order into your accounts.
  • Pull the figures from an annual report to make your own charts.
  • Compare price lists or product lists received as PDFs.

Conversion happens in your browser: a statement or invoice is never sent to a server.

Limitations to know

For complex tables, with merged cells or text spread over several lines in one cell, check the result and adjust if needed. A scanned PDF contains no text: PDFRoll will let you know. Run it through “OCR PDF” first, then convert the result. If your document is mostly text, “PDF to Word” will be a better fit.
