Trim oversized margins, isolate a diagram or fix a badly framed scan: just draw the area to keep on the page preview, then apply the crop to one page or to the whole document.
How it works
- Select the PDF.
- Move and resize the frame on the page.
- Choose all pages or the current page, then click “Crop PDF”.
Frequently asked questions
Is the content outside the frame deleted?
It's no longer displayed or printed. To permanently remove information, use “Redact PDF” instead.
Can I crop each page differently?
Yes: choose “Current page only” and crop the pages one by one, each time starting again from the file you've already cropped.
How do I undo my frame and start over?
Click “Whole page”: the frame goes back to the page's full dimensions.
Can I crop a PDF on my phone?
Yes, you can move and resize the frame with your finger in your phone's or tablet's browser.
Does cropping reduce the PDF's quality?
No, the text and images aren't recompressed: only the visible area of the page changes.
My PDF is password-protected. What should I do?
First remove the protection with “Unlock PDF” (you need to know the password), then crop the document.
Are my files sent to a server?
No. Everything happens in your browser: your documents never leave your device. The tool is free, with no sign-up.
Crop visually, right on the page
Your PDF's preview appears with a frame: move it and drag its corners to mark out the area to keep. The light area is kept, the dark area is removed. The “Whole page” button resets the frame to the page's dimensions, and the arrows let you move from one page to the next to check the result.
Then choose to apply the crop to “All pages” or to the “Current page only”, and click “Crop PDF”. Rotated pages are taken into account: you draw the area as you see it. On a computer, the frame can also be moved with the arrow keys, in small steps or in larger steps while holding Shift.
What is cropping for?
- Removing wide white margins from an article or a book to read it more comfortably on an e-reader or a phone.
- Cutting off the black edges or the tabletop background of a scanned or photographed document.
- Isolating a chart, a plan or a diagram before using it elsewhere.
- Cutting a header or footer that shouldn't appear when printed.
- Keeping only half a page, for example the useful part of a ticket or a receipt to print.
Cropping isn't erasing
Whatever lies outside the frame is no longer displayed or printed, but cropping isn't a way to get rid of confidential information. For that, use “Redact PDF”, which permanently hides the areas you choose.
If the pages of your document don't share the same layout, crop them one by one with the “Current page only” option, running the tool again on the resulting file. For a page that's simply turned the wrong way, “Rotate PDF” is enough, and to remove whole pages, “Delete pages” is a better fit.
The crop is calculated in your browser: your document doesn't leave your device.
