Read a PDF online, nothing to install

Open and read a PDF right in your browser: zoom, search, full screen, nothing to install.

No PDF reader on this computer, an attachment that won’t open, or you just want to look at a document without sending it anywhere? Open it here: it shows up in seconds, right on your device.

How it works

  1. Select your PDF file or drop it in the box.
  2. Scroll through the pages, zoom with + and −, or switch to full screen.
  3. To find a word, press Ctrl + F (Cmd + F on Mac); you can also select and copy text.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF sent over the Internet?

No. The file is read by your browser, on your device. Nobody else can see it, which is ideal for a statement, a contract or a medical record.

Can I copy text from the PDF?

Yes, if the PDF contains real text: select it with your mouse or finger, then copy it. For a scanned document, run it through “OCR PDF” first.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Open the page in your phone’s browser and pick the PDF from your files. The zoom adapts to the screen width.

Can the reader open large PDFs?

Yes. Pages are displayed as you scroll, so documents with hundreds of pages open quickly.

What about a password-protected PDF?

Remove the protection first with “Unlock PDF” (you need to know the password), then open it here.

Why read a PDF in your browser?

  • Nothing to install, even on a public or locked-down work computer.
  • The file stays on your device: nothing is uploaded.
  • From the reader, jump straight to another tool: sign, compress, edit text or convert to Word.
